J.M. Lasley is a debut author of the New Adult Fantasy novel Scorn and Shadow.

She is a child of the mountains, currently living in the swamp.

To escape reality, she writes New Adult Fantasy and Coming of Age Fantasy stories set in fantastic worlds with magic, swords, and dragons. They explore themes of belonging and identity, family, love, and the consequences of our choices.

Several of her short stories have been published in anthologies. Her story “Fatherly Love,” featuring the Greek god Hephaestus, was published in Grumpy Old Gods volume 4. In the anthologies Wishes of Illusion and Illusions of the Past, you can find her story “Wish Perfect.” Writers Resist published her horror short story, “He comes at night.”

The first chapter of her debut novel won first place in the Fiction Five contest hosted by Critique Match in 2020. Read the interview here!
